George Casey talks about his Trek Classic Cruiser 3spd. 6000 miles and counting. George Casey 6000 and counting Trek Classic cruiser 3spd

I bought my bike on May 22, 2008 at Cyclist’s Choice in Gulfport.  I’ve been averaging approximately 10 miles a day ever since.  As of today, I’ve logged over 6000 miles.  And, I’ve enjoyed every mile!  Most of my riding has been done on the Gulf Coast.  My home is just north of the railroad tracks in Long Beach.  My normal route is to ride south to the beach and then east or west, depending on the wind direction!  (I like to ride into the wind to start and have the wind at my back on the way home!)

This sport has been a life-saver for me.  The most beneficial aspect has been for my health.  After having gastric bypass surgery, I lost 158 pounds.  Losing weight and keeping it off isn’t easy.  I knew I had to exercise.  But, how?  Running and/or walking were not an option because of my knee problems.  Riding a bicycle has been the answer.  My weight has remained steady!  As long as I ride, I can eat what I want!  Riding has also saved money.  I now ride to the grocery store, post office, bank, etc.  Why hop in the car when I can ride my bike?!?  I’ve found all sorts of items on the roadsi  I’ve found wrenches, hammers, a crowbar, logging chain, and even a laser thermometer during my rides! Every day is a treasure hunt!!!

On Saturday in Kona, Chris Lieto became a hero.
LietoKona10 SpeedConcept1
On Saturday in Kona, Chris Lieto rode away from the best Triathletes int he world and dared
them to, "come and get him."  It took 138.6 miles of a 140.6 mile race, and only the fastest
runner the sport has seen for decades could answer that call.
On Saturday, in Kona, Chris Lieto allowed courage to be his guide and raced, not against the rest of
the world's best, but rather against his own personal limits.
On Saturday, In Kona, Chris Lieto finished second in the world's hardest race.
On Saturday, In Kona, Craig Alexander became the 2009 Ironman World Champion, but Chris Lieto
became something more.  On Saturday in Kona, Chris Lieto became a hero.
